Béchamel - return to start page Beta

How we handle bug reports

How we handle your bug reports depend on what kind of bugs we're talking about. This page will attempt to explain the differences.

Feature requests

Bug review

The first thing we do with your ticket is to include it in our bug reviews. These are usually once a week, but this may vary. If we feel that the feature you have suggested is something that we definitly want to implement, it will be assigned to a milestone.

If we are slightly less enthusiastic about this feature, there are several different possibilities. If we feel that the feature is something that we may want to implement, but we're not sure, we might wait and see if similar feature requests drop in, or we may start a thread about it in the Connoisseur forum. If it would take a long time to implement, we might have a vote among the Connoisseurs, between this feature and other features that would take a long time to implement.

If we don't like the feature, we may simply reject it as well.

Implementation

When work has begun on the milestone we have assigned your feature request to, we will start to implement it. When we are satisfied with it, internal testing will follow, to make sure that we have ironed out all the bugs that we can find.

(Usually) Connoisseur testing

New features are usually available for testing by the Connoisseurs before it is available to the rest of the community.

Launch

After any Connoisseur testing is done, we will launch the feature. If the feature is Connoisseur-only, this will simply mean that feature is now considered stable. If the feature is available for all users, the rest of the community will get access to it.

Bugs

Bug review

As with feature requests, bug reports are reviewed, usually once a week. Here we will decide if we are going to fix the bug, and when we will fix it.

Implementation

This is pretty similar to the feature requests. We fix the bug and test the fix.

Launch

We update Béchamel regularly with bug fixes. When a bug is fixed it will be scheduled for inclusion in the next bug fix update. This will usually be within four weeks. If the bug is very severe, it may trigger an earlier bug fix update.

Security related bugs

Bug review

If a bug is clearly marked as a security related bug, it will be reviewed much faster. Usually within a couple of days. If it is not clearly labled as a security related bug, it will be included in our regular bug reviews.

Implementation

Security bugs are usually high priority, which means that they will usually get fixed pretty soon.

Patching

If a security related bug is severe enough, it will be patched into the current installation of Béchamel, instead of waiting for a bug fix update.

Launch

If the the security related bug is not severe enough to trigger patching, it will be included in the next bug fix update.
