Mean burgers by Magnus Nordlander
Are you tired of mediocre hamburgers from drive-thrus? Make your own!
Hamburgers are dead simple to make, and home made burgers taste great. If you happen to grind your own meat, you'll be able to have your burger a delicious medium rare without much of the usual worries of foodborne illnesses.
You can eat them alone, or make some fries, or perhaps some slaw?
Ingredients for 4 servings
- 1 1/8 pounds of ground beef
- salt
- black pepper, freshly ground
- 4 cheddar cheese slices
- 4 hamburger buns
- 6 tablespoons of mayonnaise, home made, if at all possible
- 1 garlic clove, pressed or finely minced
- 1 tomato, sliced thick
- 1 onion, sliced thin
- 7/8 cup of lettuce, shredded
Instructions
Begin by seasoning the ground beef with salt and black pepper. Form patties about 125 grams (4 1/2 ounces) each. Fry in a medium hot frying pan or on a griddle for 5 minutes on each side. After flipping, add a slice of cheese to the patty.
Add the garlic to the mayo, and season with salt and pepper.
Spread the mayo onto both the top and bottom of the buns. Add the cooked patty, the tomatoes, the onions and the lettuce.
