Porter meatballs by Magnus Nordlander

Porter meatballs

Everyone knows Swedish meatballs. You know, those things you can serve at parties, with a toothpick in the meatball, drenched in gravy?

No one eats meatballs like that in Sweden.

Now, this isn't exactly a traditional recipe, however, I consider this to be an improvement on the traditional recipe.

Easy to make
Ready in 30 min (Show details)

Ingredients for 4 servings

  • 1 1/8 pounds of ground beef
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 6 2/3 tablespoons of homemade breadcrumbs
  • 6 2/3 tablespoons of porter
  • 1 egg
  • salt
  • white pepper, freshly ground

Instructions

Combine all the ingredients in a bowl. Mix them, the easiest way to do that is to just use your hands. Roll into small balls. Fry in butter over medium heat, untill cooked through.

Serve with boiled or mashed potatoes, gravy and lingonberry jam.
