Security on Béchamel
We take security very seriously. We believe that the best way to operate a secure site is openness when it comes to security. On this page we'll attempt to explain some of the measures we have taken to increase security.
Passwords
At the moment, Béchamel does not use SSL when logging in or changing passwords. This is why we recommend that you use a unique password for Béchamel. This is of course good practice on all sites, but when not using SSL, it becomes very important.
Once your password has reached us, we store it hashed (SHA-1) together with a long salt. This means that even if an attacker were able to get a hold of our database, it would be computationally infeasible for them to find out the passwords of all our users. Only an attacker with extreme resources would be able to mount a serious attack, and only against a very limited number of users.
